I took this picture a couple of days ago. I've since completed the painting and it's due to be sent to the publisher shortly.
This work is to show a German river crossing on the Eastern Front in 1942.

You may wonder what the grubby object is in the bottom right hand corner? It's an old piece of sponge (probably 20-30 years old now) which is as essential to me as my brushes and paints.
I've a whole batch of odd bits of shaped sponge- very effective though for adding texture to foliage, soil and much more.
