The Destruction of Crixus, The Slave War 72 BC

Having separated from the army of Spartacus in late 73 BC, Crixus and his followers were destroyed the following Spring near Mount Garganus after being caught by one of the two armies sent to crush the slave rebellion, that of Lucius Gellius Publicola.
This is the moment of the third and penultimate attack by Crixus' army. The rebels are beginning their slow assent of the hill, strewn with the dead and injured from the earlier attacks. Atop the hill stand the waiting Romans. Crixus leads his army, mainly made up of of Gauls and Germans.
