Winter scout training, Quebec city, 1759-60

Light Infantrymen of the 15th Regiment are being instructed in the use of snowshoes by an NCO of Rogers' Rangers, while a junior officer watches.
The American Army, and Light Infantry and Rangers in particular, adopted a combination of white and Native American dress to help them survive the harsh winter conditions.
In addition they wear woolen capotes, and carry bearskins and full field packs.
