Counterattack at Borisovka, 28 May 1943

After repeated attacks which had severely reduced the German defenders numbers, on the morning of 28 May, the Soviet 32nd Guards Rifle Division mounted an all-out attack to finally capture the village of Borisovka.
Although wounded, gathering the last 50 able-bodied survivors of his battalion, Oberleutnant d. R. Karl-Will Lump lead his men in a desperate counterattack to retake the village.
The Soviet soldiers were taken by surprise and after a vicious close quarter fight were forced to abandon the village.
