This painting shows the 2. Pommersches Reserve-Bataillon forming an attack column to push back a sally by the French garrison of the fortress of Stettin. All officers, NCOs, soldiers and musicians are positioned and represented in this highly detailed painting.
The battalion had been formed in January and these new formations received a simplified uniform of grey cloth and simple caps with many recruits wearing their own trousers. NCOs and officers transferred into these new formations wore their regulation uniforms.
