Brevet Major Francis Broadfoot Russel, RA. with rocket crew from 1st Battalion 24th Regiment and Natal Native Contingent escort.
Russell commanded the rocket battery attatched to Durnford's command.
Early in the battle his battery was caught by surpise as Zulu warriors broke over the summit of the hill infront of them.
With barely time to fire more than a couple of rockets, the battery was overrun, Russel being among those killed.
