24cm S.K. L/40 'Theodor Karl' E.
The first German railway gun , 'Theodor Karl' was built in late 1916. In spring 1917 four of these guns were fielded. The gun was designed to fire from its bogies using a curved firing track to aim at it's target.
Bottom:
38cm S.K. L/45 'Max'
This was the largest-calibre railway gun built by Germany. The first of eight were fielded in time for the spring offensives of 1918. A duel-role gun it could fire from its bogies or from a fixed emplacement.
