Front and rear figure studies of a US combat engineer of the Gap Assault Teams (GATs) during the fighting on Omaha Beach. He is depicted rushing up the shoreline to perform demolition duties against beach obstacles which would prevent landing craft and armour from landing.
He carries a demolition satchel on his hip and spools of detcord. Wire cutters hang from his ammunition belt and a pick mattock is carried on his right hip.
