M3S Medium tank & M3L Light tank

M3S Medium tank, 241st Tank Brigade, September 1942
M3 medium tanks were unpopular with Soviet crews, but bearing the slogn, "for Stalin" this was one of those assigned to attack into Stalingrad.
With 23 M3 Lee and 25 M3 Stuart tanks, the brigade attacked the German positions. Carrying infantry on their decks they encountered heavy enemy fire. Next day the brigade had only three operational tanks.

M3L Light tank
Although critisized by the Red Army for various shortcomings, the M3 with it's four-man crew and radio was superior to the two-man T-60 and T-70 tanks employed in large numbers by the Soviets.
