Australian Light Horse charge at Beersheba. 31 October 1917 (Australian view)

This painting is the Australian view of the ALH charge.

In the late afternoon the situation for the Ottoman defenders of Beersheba has become hopeless, with those that can withdrawing and their commander ordering the towns 17 wells to be blown.
With the water situation critical, the 4th and 12th ALH mount a charge to take the town by storm and capture the vital wells intact.
Riding at full gallop with bayonets drawn, the first wave breach the Ottoman front line.
